Dental Technology at May Creek Dental Studio

At May Creek Dental Studio, technology supports our commitment to precise, comfortable, and efficient care. Dr. Wyman Chen uses digital tools to better understand each patient’s oral health, plan treatment carefully, and make the dental experience more streamlined.

Our technology includes same-day restoration capabilities, digital scanning, 3D imaging, computer-enhanced implant planning, remote orthodontic monitoring, and salivary testing.

CEREC Same-Day Dentistry

CEREC technology allows our team to create applicable porcelain restorations in the office during a single appointment. Instead of relying on a conventional dental impression and an outside laboratory, we can digitally scan the tooth, design the restoration, and mill it at our practice.

For qualifying cases, this process can eliminate the need for temporary restorations and a separate placement appointment.

How the CEREC Process Works

The CEREC process combines digital scanning, 3D design, and in-office milling to create a customized restoration.

During the appointment, our team can:

Because the process is completed digitally, patients can avoid conventional impression material for applicable treatments.

Benefits of Same-Day Restorations

Creating a restoration in the office can make treatment more convenient while helping our team maintain control over the design and fit.

Depending on the patient’s needs and the type of restoration, benefits may include:

Dr. Chen will determine whether CEREC same-day treatment is appropriate after examining the tooth and discussing the available options.

Digital Intraoral Scanning

Digital intraoral scanning allows our team to capture detailed images and measurements of the teeth without conventional impression material.

These digital impressions can be used when planning applicable crowns, restorations, implant treatment, and orthodontic care. The scan also gives our team a detailed digital representation that can help us explain findings and discuss treatment with the patient.

CBCT and 3D Imaging

CBCT and 3D imaging provide detailed views of the teeth, bone, and surrounding oral structures. These images give Dr. Chen additional information when evaluating dental concerns and planning certain procedures.

Three-dimensional imaging may be used when appropriate for:

Dr. Chen uses the information from these images alongside a clinical examination and the patient’s health history to plan personalized care.

Computer-Enhanced Dental Implant Planning

May Creek Dental Studio offers both dental implant placement and restoration in the same location. Computer-enhanced planning allows Dr. Chen to evaluate each implant case carefully before treatment.

Digital scans and 3D imaging can help him assess the treatment area and plan the position of an implant based on the patient’s individual anatomy and restorative needs.

For complex cases, Dr. Chen may collaborate with an experienced oral surgeon or another appropriate specialist.

In-Office Restoration Milling

Our in-office milling equipment allows applicable restorations to be created at May Creek Dental Studio rather than sent to an outside laboratory.

The restoration is designed from the patient’s digital scan and milled from porcelain material. Dr. Chen can then evaluate the restoration before it is placed.

This in-office process is an important part of our CEREC same-day dentistry capabilities.

Dental Monitoring for Orthodontic Care

DentalMonitoring provides a secure way for patients receiving orthodontic treatment to submit progress scans using a smartphone.

These scans allow the orthodontic team to monitor treatment progress remotely between scheduled office visits. The technology supports ongoing communication while helping the team follow changes throughout clear aligner or other applicable orthodontic treatment.

Salivary Testing

Salivary testing is available as part of our preventive and comprehensive approach to oral health.

When appropriate, Dr. Chen may use salivary testing alongside the patient’s examination, health history, symptoms, and other diagnostic information. He will explain when testing may be useful and how the results relate to the patient’s care.

Technology Guided by Personal Care

Technology is most valuable when it supports thoughtful clinical judgment and clear communication. At May Creek Dental Studio, every scan, image, and digital tool is used as part of a personalized evaluation not as a replacement for listening to the patient.

Dr. Chen considers the patient’s concerns, oral health, airway, bite, diet, sleep, oral habits, and overall health when evaluating treatment needs. Our goal is to use the available information to recommend care that is preventive, conservative, and appropriate for the individual.
